Jeremy Riggle, Ph.D. -- Laboratory Director
(B.S. Biology from Eastern Oregon University; M.S. Environmental Science and Ph.D. Analytical Chemistry both from University of Idaho)
Jeremy is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Eastern Oregon University. He joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at his alma mater in the fall of 2010. His primary teaching responsibilities include: general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, senior seminar and environmental chemistry. He advises the KEOL club (the campus radio station club), the EOU ski club as well as the EOU campus garden club.
His research interests are varied and currently include: the chemical characterization of atmospheric particulate matter (PM10) in the Grande Ronde Valley; extraction and quantitation of Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons from PM10 samples following episodic events (e.g. forest fires, field burning); indoor air pollution at local hair salons and in recently renovated public buildings; and heavy metal concentration, radical scavenging ability and antioxidant activity of wild edible mushrooms of Northeast Oregon.
He has held research positions at Desert Research Institute in Reno, NV, where he developed methods to characterize the carbonaceous component of PM10 as part of the Analytical Sciences Laboratory in the Division of Atmospheric Sciences. At Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR, he was involved in developing methods for the extraction of Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons from various environmental matrices while with the Food Safety and Environmental Stewardship Laboratory in the Department of Molecular Toxicology.
Shawn McKay--President & General Manager
(B.S. Range Ecology, OSU/EOU)
Shawn recognized in 2013 the need for a scientific cannabis testing facility east of the cascades and he is the driving force behind Eastern Oregon Analytical. Shawn graduated from the Oregon State Range Management program. His area of focus includes landscape ecology, plant physiology and soil sciences. He was the President of the EOU campus Garden Club and Vice President Of the OSU Range Club at EOU.
Shawn has been a registered OMMP cardholder for five years and has lived in Eastern Oregon for the last fifteen. He is a strong supporter of the medicinal cannabis industry and has spoken at many City Council and County Commission meetings in eastern Oregon, as well as attending rulemaking sessions in Salem during hearings for HR-3460 and SB-1531. He believes that Eastern Oregon Analytical will help establish the reputation that Cannabis is a safe, effective medicine.
Joe Corsini, Ph.D.-- Microbiologist
(B.S. Chemistry, University of Idaho; Ph.D. Molecular Virology, Colorado State University)
With thirty years of experience in the field and in the lab, Dr. Corsini is an experienced molecular microbiologist. He has an in depth understanding of the complexities of isolating and identifying bacteria and fungi from environmental samples, ensuring that the mold analysis methodologies employed by our mirobiology section are state of the art.
He obtained his B.S. in Chemistry at University of Idaho, during which time he conducted pesticide trials and mold analyses as an undergraduate research student. He went on to obtain a Ph.D. in Molecular Virology at Colorado State University, and then conducted post-doctoral studies at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Israel and at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. He currenty directs ongoing student research projects aimed at understanding relationships between medically important bacteria and their environment.
